The University of Auckland is the largest university in the country. Most students attend the main City Campus, which is located in the heart of Auckland close to the city’s main transport hubs, the bustling central business district, shops, theatres and social scene.

Entry requirements
We welcome applications from international students studying a wide range of New Zealand and international qualifications. You must fulfill our requirements to receive an offer of place, or you must be in a position to fulfill our requirements to be considered for a conditional offer of place.
Entry requirements are based on your prior study and we provide specific requirements for qualifications our international students have most frequently achieved. There are additional entry requirements for some programmes and these vary depending on the programme you are applying for.
Undergraduate entry requirements

Research postgraduate entry requirements
You must have completed a bachelors (honours) degree or postgraduate diploma from the University of Auckland, or a postgraduate taught qualification from a recognised university (or similar).
English language requirements
You must meet English language requirements. These may be met through an approved English language test or prior study in the English medium.
Undergraduate English language requirements
If you are an international applicant and your first language is not English, you will need to provide evidence of your English proficiency. English is considered the first language of citizens of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the United States of America and Canada.
If you are a domestic applicant and your first language is not English you may be asked to provide evidence of your competence in written and spoken English.
If you have an offer of place conditional on English, you may wish to consider applying for entry to a pathway English language course at the University’s English Language Academy

International tertiary qualifications
You must have completed at least one year of full-time study, in the last two years at a recognised university (or similar institution). Your study must be at a level equivalent to a New Zealand university degree and completed in one of the following countries or territories:

We also accept study completed at the University of the South Pacific (Cook Islands, Fiji, Nauru, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Vanuatu) and the University of West Indies (all Caribbean countries and territories).
